  8. Hello Mr. Aiston’s Class,

We all know about movies and how they can take us into imaginary worlds or dire situations made all the more dramatic through sets, lighting, editing, music and sound effects but you have hit on an artistic expression often ignored, the movie trailer.

I’ve found movie trailers to be interesting creations. In a short time a trailer must hint at the movie plot without giving the storyline away. It must build tension or share humour or sadness. It is, in effect, a short movie.

Have you noticed trailers often take bits out of movies and use them out of order? They do this to better tell their shortened story. At the cinema, I sometimes try to identify segments used in trailers and notice how they can be scattered throughout the film.

Have you ever been excited on seeing a movie trailer only to be disappointed with the movie itself? Sometimes, but not often, I’ve found a trailer more interesting than the movie. In order to draw in cinema goers for a less than wonderful film, the trailer creators have had to use the most interesting cuts.

You all seem to have an understanding of the value of a good trailer. “Football Fanatic”, “The Haunted House“, “The Haunted School“ and “Vampire School of Horror” have captured the art form. You have used sound effects, music and short clips to build the tension.

    Well done, everyone!

  11. Great Movie trailers! I like the way you showed the key points of the movies, and parts that would make you want to see more: disappearing people, football skills, tensions and suspense! What app did you use to make these?
